Center for Urology Adds State of The Art Lithotripter to Its Services

by Todd Leddy on May 31st, 2012

HALIFAX HEALTH

Halifax Health has expanded its urological services to provide the latest in technology for treating kidney stones. The new Wolf 3000 lithotriptor is a highly effective non-invasive alternative to the surgical removal of kidney and ureteral stones. With the addition of the new state-of-the-art Wolf 3000, this powerful lithotripsy system effectively treats kidney and ureteral stones faster, safer and with less pain to patients. The Wolf unit uses Inline ultrasound in the therapy head, along with flouroscopy, for “dual imaging” and better visualization of stones. This combination results in better treatment outcomes than conventional lithotripsy imaging. When ultrasound is used instead of fluoroscopy, there is no radiation exposure for the patient.
